Bern marketing uses the term "hard hat" literally. This is not a helmet. It sort of looks similar to a helmet and the appearance and placement among other helmets can be misleading. It does not pass any standards testing. The soft foam inside is not strong enough to stop the forces that other helmets have to stand up to to pass testing. The buyer should be aware of this point as a hard hit on your head can have effects that last a lifetime. The foam will offer some increased protection at slow speeds, but there is no standard for this. It is like wearing a, hard hat.
